BMW 2002 Instrument Cluster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and refit the instrument panel on BMW 2002?
A: Disconnect the lead from the battery negative terminal, then remove the steering column lower shroud and the trim panel from below the instrument panel. Reach up behind the instrument panel to disconnect the speedometer drive cable from the speedometer and unscrew the two panel securing knurled nuts. Remove the securing screws from the front face of the instrument panel and from the anti-glare shroud over the instruments. Pull the panel far enough forward to disconnect the multi-pin plugs and leads, then withdraw the panel and detach the individual instruments as required, including the panel lamps and panel-mounted switches. Refitting the instrument panel involves reversing the removal process.
