BMW 2002 Trailing Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and replace the trailing arm and its components on BMW 2002?
A: Remove the coil roadspring, then disconnect the appropriate cable from the handbrake lever and from the suspension arm clips. Next, disconnect the stabiliser bar from the suspension trailing arm and the flexible brake hose from the rigid brake line. After that, disconnect the trailing arm from both its pivots on the subframe and withdraw it complete with the hub assembly. The trailing arm bushes can be renewed by extracting and inserting them using a bolt, washers, and distance pieces. Refitting is a reversal of removal, but ensure to tighten bolts to the specified torque only when the weight of the car is on the suspension. Finally, bleed the brakes.
