BMW 2002 Wiper Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How often should wiper blades and Wiper Arm be renewed and How to remove and refit them on BMW 2002?
A: It is recommended that the wiper blades are renewed every two years or when they fail to clean the screen effectively. To remove a blade, pull the arm outwards from the screen so that it is parallel to the bonnet, locking it in this position. Depress the locking tab and pull the blade from the arm. The wiper arm can be removed (complete with blade) from the driving spindle by first pulling aside the small spring retainer that locks it to the spindle with a small screwdriver. Refitting is a reversal of removal, but do not push the arm fully onto the splines of the driving spindle before checking the alignment of the arm with the base of the windscreen. If required, the position of the arm can be altered slightly by withdrawing it and moving it a spline or two in either direction.
