BMW 2500 Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and service the master and slave cylinders on BMW 2500?
A: In order to eliminate the master cylinder, fluid should be siphoned from the container and the lower dashboard panel detached in order to access it. The pipe and pushrod could then be separated from it and then its nuts as well as its assembly removed. When servicing, take out the circlip, internal parts, you can use air pressure if it is necessary. Inspect all seals for cracks or damage and clean other parts. Assemble while ensuring that there is no dust particles when putting on grease made of brake fluid. Always make sure that when refitting, that sealing plug is installed correctly, and check clutch pedal travel, For accessing other components only in case of a slave mcylinder; leave the fluid hose connected and wire up to underbody . Remove the cylinder after transferring any residual liquid into a container through suctioning. Wash parts thoroughly with water, checking for wear before fitting a new piston seal if required. On reverse assembling lubricate the pushrod also. If you had disconnected your fluid hose refill your reservoir and then bleed off any air remaining in your system leaving only hydraulic oil inside it.Open bleed screw, press clutch pedal down until no more fluid emerges from thus opening at which point tighten screw.Remove bleeder valve cap.Repeat the process until you see no more bubbles. The aim of this is to fill all reservoirs with fresh liquids. This will help prevent possible contaminations due to their constant contact with foreign elements in respective containers.
