    Q: What are the removal and installation Oil Pan procedures on BMW M3?
    A: For the S14 Engine, begin by removing the engine oil dipstick and splash guard from underneath the engine. Raise and support the vehicle, then drain the oil, remove the lower oil pan, Oil Pump, lower flywheel housing cover, oil pressure sending unit plug, oil pan bracket, and crankcase ventilation hose. When installing, provide a new gasket, coat the joints where the timing case cover and block meet with brush-on sealant, and follow the removal procedures in reverse. For the M20 Engine, disconnect the negative battery cable, raise the vehicle, drain the engine oil, remove the front subframe and differential if necessary, the splash guard, electrical terminal from the oil sending unit, power steering gear, flywheel cover reinforcement, and the oil pump and oil pan. Upon installation, ensure gasket surfaces are clean, use new gaskets, and ensure all systems refilled. For the M42 Engine, disconnect the negative battery cable, drain the engine oil, disconnect several components including the heater hoses, fan and fan cowl, dipstick tube, exhaust pipe, and engine mounts. Lift the engine, remove both upper and lower oil pans, and clean the mounting surfaces. The installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. For the M44 Engine, disconnect the battery, raise the vehicle, drain the oil, disconnect the exhaust pipe if necessary, and remove both oil pans. Clean the surfaces, install new gaskets, and follow the reverse of the removal procedure. For the E36 6-Cylinder Engines, if an optional oil cooler is added, it may need support. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, remove the oil dipstick tube, unclip power steering fluid lines, raise the vehicle, attach an engine lifting hoist, matchmark and disconnect the steering spindle, remove engine belts, power steering pump and fluid reservoir, disconnect control arms, drain oil, support the crossmember, remove it, remove oil pipes if automatic transmission is equipped, lower bell housing dust shield, and oil pan. Clean all surfaces, apply a non-hardening sealant at seams, install a new gasket, and follow the removal process in reverse order.
