New driveshaft rear coupling nuts and driveshaft retaining bolts will be required on installation. Begin by chocking the front wheels, loosening the rear wheel bolts, raising the rear of the vehicle, and securely supporting it on jackstands before removing both rear wheels. If necessary, drain the differential unit. Use paint or a suitable marker pen to make alignment marks between the driveshaft and differential unit flange, then unscrew and discard the nuts securing the driveshaft to the differential unit, as new ones must be used on installation. Loosen and remove the retaining bolts and plates securing the right-hand driveshaft to the differential unit flange, supporting the driveshaft by tying it to the vehicle underbody with a piece of wire to prevent damage to the CV joint. Discard the bolts, as new ones should be used on installation, and disconnect the left-hand driveshaft from the differential. Remove the heat shield panel from the left-hand end of the tension strut beneath the differential input shaft flange by unscrewing the nuts/bolts. Disconnect the electrical connector from the speedometer drive on the rear of the differential unit if equipped, then loosen and remove the left- and right-hand stabilizer bar mounts. Position a jack to support the weight of the differential unit, ensuring it is safely supported before removing the two bolts securing the front of the unit and the single bolt securing the rear. Carefully lower the differential unit out of position and remove it from underneath the vehicle, examining the differential unit mounting bushings for signs of wear or damage and replacing them if necessary. For installation, reverse the removal process, ensuring to raise the differential unit into position and engage it with the driveshaft rear joint while aligning the previously made marks. Tighten the differential unit mounting bolts to the specified torque setting, install the new driveshaft joint nuts and tighten them to the specified torque, and install the stabilizer bar mountings. Finally, install the new driveshaft joint retaining bolts and plates, tightening them to the specified torque, and refill or top-up the differential unit with oil upon completion.
