    Q:
How do you remove and refit the Door Handle,Door Lock and Door Lock Cylinder on BMW 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The lock knob can be simply unscrewed from the lock rod and the inside door handle trim can be popped out at the back and pulled up at the front. Undo only one screw on the handle, for front doors, best screw may be seen beneath the cover plate of the armrest, in addition to this indicated screw, three more screws lower the armrest. In case of rear doors, there are two parts of the trim pad, the upper and the lower, which are snapped together; to release the armrest, the two lower fixing screws must be undone first. Take out the thrust washer and the regulator handle - this is achieved by pulling out the trim and then removing the single screw. Take off the rear seals of the front and rear corner of window aperture and the two screw that fixes the upper part of the trim panel to the door frame. To remove the trim panel pull it gently from the door and release the spring clips, if internal components need to be accessed, the plastic sealing sheet can be removed from the door panel and should be replaced if damaged. Refitting consists in the reversal of the above described removal steps.; one has to ensure that the used plastic sealing sheet is fixed with Terokol 2012 adhesive to avoid water leakage and it should be remembered that the larger diameter end of the conical spring of the regulator handle must be adjacent to the trim panel. For the regulator mechanism prepare the window to be fully closed before unscrewing it to remove it, a wedge helps hold the glass and the regulator arm must be moved so that it gets out of the lift rail; appropriately installed must have plastic washers as well. In removing the glass, one has to loosen the window aperture trim strip, and remove the lift rail holder; then lower the glass; after that, the lift arm must be detached before the glass is removed. Refitting entails ensure that the guide rail is a perfection match to the door window before twisting the lift rail holder. For the removal of rear door glass, procedures are nearly the same but what should be ensured is free movement of the window to be raised and lowered before screwing is tightened. The removal is as follows; front door lock removal includes the detachment of the trim panel, lowering of the window and pulling out of screws and seals to get to the lock mechanism which also includes pulling out of the remote control mechanism. Refitting involves making sure the spacing rollers are properly installed and the window should be checked so that it functions as it is required. The rear door lock removal is done in a similar way and it is important that the child-proof locking is set to the open position when inserting. The outer door handle can also be removed by pulling the handle outwards and unscrewing it while for the inner mechanism the trim panel has to be removed and then screws. It is done in an opposite manner to allow the outer handle sit on rubber buffers. Last is the front door lock barrel where you have to remove the trim panel after that you will have to unscrew the nut on the inside of the barrel lock but do not take it apart, the key number will be stamped on the side. Refitting is the process which is performed in a reverse manner to that of the removal process.
