Reinstall the high-pressure fuel pump lines, ignition coils, and remaining components. For the 3.0L engine, remove the plastic cover, disconnect the fuel feed pipe, and remove the electrical connector strip. Remove the fuel rail and injectors as an assembly. Lubricate the fuel injector O-rings and install them to the fuel rail with the clips. Reverse the removal steps.

Fuel injectors are electrically controlled solenoid valves that provide precisely metered and atomized fuel into the engine intake ports, receiving voltage from the fuel injector relay located in the electronics box. The engine control module controls injector opening by activating the ground circuit for the injector valve solenoids, varying the duration of injector opening to regulate the air/fuel ratio. To access the injectors, remove the engine covers. For a quick check, run the engine and touch each injector with a screwdriver or stethoscope to feel a vibration or hear a buzzing, then switch the engine off and disconnect the battery negative cable. Prior to disconnecting the battery, read the battery disconnection cautions. Remove the upper engine covers and ensure to mark oxygen sensor connectors for reassembly. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors using a small screwdriver to pry one corner of the wire lock clip on each connector, then lift off the connector loom. Unscrew the Schrader valve cap from the fuel rail and the fuel tank cap to release pressure, then use a brief burst of compressed air to blow fuel back into the tank. At the rear of the manifold, use a special tool to press the locking clip inside the end of the fuel line fitting to disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel rail. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts, carefully pry the fuel rail and injectors off the manifold, separate the fuel line support bracket at the rear of the intake manifold, and guide the fuel line(s) out while lifting the fuel rail. To remove individual injectors, pry the retaining clip from each injector and pull it from the rail. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to fit new sealing O-rings, lightly lubricate them with assembly lubricant for ease of installation, check that electrical connections are correctly fitted and that injectors are fully seated before installing the fuel rail mounting bolts, check fuel line rubber O-rings and replace as necessary, and replace wire ties. Finally, check and clear fault codes from the ECM memory.

Reverse the removal steps, ensuring to fit new sealing O-rings on the injectors and lightly lubricating them for ease of installation.
