    Q:
How to remove and install Washer Pump and Washer Reservoir on BMW 325i? Posted by Customer
    A:
The reservoir of the washer is located behind the right front wheel well. To remove it, remove the inner fender liner. Then unclip the wiring harness and hose from the reservoir clips, disconnecting the filler hose as well. Maneuver away from fenderwell by removing bolt and disconnect electrical connectors and hoses from reservoir components. Reinstall in reverse order of removal ensuring that locating lugs on rear edge of reservoir engage properly with corresponding slots in inner fender. Fill the reservoir and inspect for leakage. They can be removed following the same guidelines used earlier to remove a windshield washer pump assembly, but only if you are mechanically inclined to do so can you proceed as they are disassembled in such a way that they cannot be reassembled correctly. Disconnect electric wiring connector(s) or hose(s) connected on washer pump(s), then rotate carefully clockwise after which raise them up out of container (reservoir). After proper inspection, replace damaged or worn-out pump sealing grommet(s). Install As mentioned above except use new sealant grommet when required. One may also follow the steps given above to withdraw washer bottle level switch. Rotate level switch counterclockwise; pull off from container (reservoir). Install As per removal procedure while using another sealant grommet when necessary.Refill and check for leaks. The windscreen cleaner nozzle can be taken out by removing cabin air filter cover followed by removing hoses and electrical connections.Press back on spray nozzle until it pops up at front edge then lift forward to release it from panel.Re-assemble the item opposite to what was done during detachment. The headlamp cleaning system nozzle will require prying out of this area below headlamp whereafter one can now remove cover from nozzle after separating it.Remove front bumper then detach heating element electrical connector.Apart from detaching mounting clip first then remove thread pipe section.Install similar manner like in removal process. The rear window washer nozzle can be taken out by removing high-mount brake light, releasing the clip, disconnecting the hose, and pulling it from high mount brake light. The reverse of the removal process will include aiming the nozzle at specified location on window.Run by central control module assembly located within main fusebox.

    Q:
How to service the Washer reservoir and pumps on BMW Z4? Posted by Customer
    A:
These vehicles are fitted with the Central Body Electronic or more commonly known as ZKE-V system where every single system is systematically connected to a central control component for ease of diagnosis. This module governs windshield wipers and washers, central locking and anti-theft control, power windows, interior lamps, alarm, and consumer electronic power down. In case of a malfunction, the diagnosis must be done by a dealer service department or any other qualified automotive repair facility due to use of special test equipment. It is mounted on the extremity of the instrument panel and it is used for the windshield washer nozzles and on models with headlight washers it is used for the headlight washer jets as well as being mounted in the engine bay. First, drain the tank and unscrew the wiring connectors from the washer pump(s), check the sealing grommet(s) of the pump for any damage. Attached are the illustrations of the unit showing the location of the reservoir and the methods of installing it back after removal: Engage the locating lugs and look for leakage after refilling. For the washer pumps which are for the windshield and the headlight, a like procedure can be followed for their removal and installation, though the grommets may require replacement if they are damaged. To replace front washer reservoir level switch the switch is accessed by removing the reservoir and rotating the switch ¼ turn clockwise. Washer nozzles must be removed properly so as not to harm the paint and installation includes making connections and making adjustments in order to have optimal spray. Headlight washer jets are remove-by-hand designs that demand gentle removal to prevent fluid leaks and adjustment requires special tool. The wash/wipe control module is hidden in the cargo area, behind the passenger side glove box, in a small slot, the glove box must be taken off and the wiring connectors pulled out. The process of removal and installation of the rear window washer reservoir and pump is very much the same, However, extra care must be taken with fluid spillage as well as reconnection of the parts. Last but not the least of the components is the rear window washer jet which is a push-fit and needs to be directed rightly at the time of fitting.
