    A: Rear drum units for both service brake and handbrake models, and auxiliary drum brakes for rear discs models are covered. Some of them are: for brake shoe removal, it is advisable to; Chock the front wheels, raise the rear of the vehicle, remove the road wheels with the handbrakes fully released. If the brake shoes do get bound, turn the adjusting nuts on the slackers in the appropriate direction to release them, Take off the brake drum. One shoe may be jolted out of the lower mounting using the screwdriver, the return spring should be disconnected and pulling the upper ends of the wheel cylinder. Remove the thrust rod, upper return spring, and handbrake cable; it will be noted that the rear shoe is serviced with the handbrake operating lever. Thoroughly wash all grime and oils from the brake assembly as well as the inner surface of the drum. On refitting reverse the removal procedure being careful to ensure that return springs are correctly located, when fitting the upper return spring the hooked end of the longer part goes into the handbrake lever hole on the rear shoe.
