- Q: How to remove and install the Flywheel on BMW 335i?A:The crankshaft rear main/flywheel seal replacement requires the removal of the transmission and the use of BMW special tool 11 9 260 or one with similar effect to lock the flywheel. Flywheel bolts should be loosened and discarded and the torque plate, together with the flywheel should be also removed while the bolt thread in the crankshaft must be shaved. It is important to locate the dowel sleeve on the flywheel during the installation, and the holes of the torque plate and flywheel that belong to the torque converter. New flywheel bolts are required and for N55 engines it is recommended to align the magnetic reluctor wheel for crankshaft sensor before re-stressing of the transmission.
- Q: How to remove and install the flywheel on BMW X3?A:When replacing/ removing the flywheel in vehicles with manual transmission, then, first take out the front and rear driveshafts and fix them on the side. Thirdly, take out the transmission and then the clutch. Check the flywheel for scorings, overheated area, cracks, loose or worn out guide pin and if all these are noted the flywheel must be changed. Screw the flywheel on the shaft in such a manner that they are bolted with each other and use a key to lock the flywheel in position. MuScrew and nuts of the flywheel should then be freed after which the flywheel should be withdrawn and the threads of the bolts which are on the crankshaft should be cleaned. It also checks the position of the dowel sleeve on the flywheel location, to to see whether or not it is appropriately damaged. On replacement of the flywheel, he should install a new transmission pilot bearing and locating dowel sleeve should be positioned adjacent of the two locating notches. The assembly of the flywheel requires the replacement of new self-locking bolts; do not use old stretch-type bolts or apply any thread-locking compound.
- Q: How to remove and install the flywheel on BMW X5?A:The following procedure applies to the 6-cylinder engine of a car that has a manual gear box. To start, disconnect and or remove the splash guard that is found under the transmission as well as the front end reinforcement. Then, remove the nail and the nuts that are holding intermediate muffler and heat shield on the car. First, take out all the front and rear driveshafts from the transfer case, but then set it to the side.
