    Q:
Is the throttle housing utilized for engine load control, and How to replace it in N51,N52,N52KP six cylinder engine on BMW 335i? Posted by Customer
    A:
Those of you studying the engine may wonder about the throttle housing, the EDK, which is not used to control the load of the engine, that is managed by the valvetronic function of the ECM, however, the throttle may be slightly closed to ensure adequate manifold vacuum for the crank case ventilation and canister purge. No physical connection exist between the accelerator pedal and the Throttle plate. This is available in the accelerator pedal module (PWG) where direct transmission of the position to the ECM is made through data transmission of two variable voltages through Hall sensors; - position and - rate of movement. ECM has separate supply to all the Hall sensor where 5 volts and ground is provided to each of the Hall sensor and gives a variable voltage as the accelerator pedal is operated. The values produced by the Hall sensors are evaluated for their reasonability, The voltage of Hall sensor 1 varies from 0.5 to 4.5 V, while the voltage of the second Hall sensor varies from 0.5 to 2.5 V. The throttle housing unit is non-adjustable, and hence, if defective, the entire unit needs to be replaced. The adaptation values following replacement must be reset using a BMW scan tool or some similarly capable device. In case the process of adaptation is not carried out properly there will be no starting of the engine. To continue, turn off the ignition and take out the key, and then things are easy, as you need to take off the air filter housing and air intake ducts. On the left side of the intake manifold it is necessary to remove the electrical connector, bolts and the throttle housing. As with removal the installation is done in a reverse manner and the profile gasket should be reinstalled between the throttle assembly and intake manifold. It should however be noted that when reconnecting the Throttle Assembly connector, the harness and connector should not be twisted in any manner as this causes damage to the harness and the connector. Another step is to look for fault codes and to clear ECM memory, and in addition to them to clear out throttle plate adaptation values as indicated on the screen after reinstallation of that software.

What should be done after reinstalling the throttle housing for the 2007 BMW 335i? Posted by Customer
    A:

    Q:
Is there a mechanical link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle plate for the 2009 BMW 335i? Posted by Customer
    A:
No, there is no mechanical link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle plate. The accelerator pedal module communicates pedal position directly to the ECM through two variable voltage signals from Hall sensors.
